Richard Richard and Edward Elizabeth Hitler are two slovenly and lewd flatmates who spend their days bickering and trying to score with women. In the fourth episode of season one, entitled "Apocalypse," the duo is plunged into a chaotic and hilarious world ending scenario.
The episode begins with Richard and Eddie sitting in their squalid flat watching yet another uneventful day pass. Richard complains about the mundanity of their lives, bemoaning the fact that they never get to have any fun. Suddenly, the television screen fizzles and goes dark, and a news bulletin comes on, announcing that a massive asteroid is hurtling towards Earth, and will collide with it in just a few hours.
As the news bulletin continues, the gravity of the situation sinks in, and Richard and Eddie are forced to confront the idea that the end of the world is nigh. They begin to panic and scramble around the flat, trying to come up with a plan to survive the impending apocalypse.
Richard decides that they need to build a makeshift shelter under the kitchen table, while Eddie suggests that they should try to secure some weapons to fend off any looters or scavengers. They argue and bicker relentlessly, but eventually settle on a plan that involves hoarding all of their canned food and alcohol and barricading themselves in their flat.
As they put their plan into action, their neighbours begin to descend into chaos, with people fighting and rioting in the streets outside. Richard and Eddie watch the chaos unfold from their window, but remain convinced that they can outlast the end of the world by sticking to their survival plan.
As the hours tick by, they begin to drink heavily and their behaviour becomes more and more erratic. They build a makeshift bomb out of cleaning products and try to light it, hoping to take out any looters who might come to steal their supplies. However, the bomb fails to detonate, and they are left with a dangerous mess in the middle of the kitchen.
Finally, the moment of impact arrives, and they brace themselves for impact. But as the asteroid hurtles towards them, they realise that it is actually a burning airplane engine, which crashes through the roof of their flat and lands directly on top of them.
Miraculously, they survive the crash, but find themselves buried under a pile of rubble, with no way out. As they lie there, trapped and hopeless, they realise that perhaps the end of the world wasn't such a bad thing after all, and that they might have actually been better off if the asteroid had hit them directly.
Despite all of their attempts to survive, they are ultimately left with nothing but each other, and their miserable existence in their grubby flat. As the credits roll, they are seen lying trapped under the rubble, lamenting their fate to each other in their usual sarcastic and bitter tone.
