Ep 1. Pilot

Call Your Mother is a new comedy series that explores the dynamic of a protective mother and her grown children who have left the nest. Episode 1, Pilot, introduces Jean Raines (Kyra Sedgwick), a single mother who is struggling to adjust to life without her two children who have moved away to pursue their own ambitions. At first, Jean tries to brush off their initial reactions, but as the day goes on, she realizes that her presence is getting in the way of their busy lives.

Throughout the episode, we see Jean struggling to adapt to the changes in her children's lives. She doesn't understand some of the new terminology they use, such as "swipe right," and has a hard time using the latest technology. While visiting Jackie and her husband, who are expecting a baby, Jean tries to help with the nursery but ends up painting a mural that the couple is not thrilled with. Similarly, when visiting Freddie's apartment, she tries to cook him a meal, but ends up burning his pot and ruining his dinner.

As the episode progresses, we see the children slowly warming up to their mother's presence. Freddie starts to bond with his mother over their shared love of music and Jean helps him to write a song. Jackie and her mother start to connect over their shared experiences with pregnancy, and Jean helps her to relieve some stress by offering to plan her baby shower.
