Ep 3. Quaran-Jean

After a successful two episodes, Call Your Mother is back with another amazing episode titled Quaran-Jean as season 1 continues. The series follows the life of an empty nester mom, Jean who decides to leave her comfortable life in Iowa to move to Los Angeles to be closer to her children. In episode 3, Jean adjusts to her new life in Los Angeles with her son Freddie, who is still struggling to come to terms with his breakup with his girlfriend.

The episode begins with Jean's neighbors revealing how they aren't getting their mail anymore and suspect that one of their neighbors, who may have contracted COVID-19 may be the reason behind it. As a result, Jean starts obsessively cleaning her apartment, wearing disposable gloves and masks as she becomes paranoid about contracting the virus herself. She is also keeping a close eye on Freddie and his interactions with the outside world, and expresses her concern about him going out and potentially contracting the virus.

Meanwhile, Jackie and Jean find themselves in a heated argument about their differences in opinions about the ongoing pandemic. Jackie thinks the virus is just a hoax and refuses to take it seriously, causing tension between the two. As the argument escalates, Jean chooses to distance herself from Jackie and avoid spending time with her.

As the episode progresses, we see Freddie struggling to cope with his breakup with his girlfriend, which affects his job and work. Jean tries her best to cheer him up by arranging for a surprise visit from his dad, who is an ex-narcotics officer. While Freddie is initially annoyed at his father's visit, he eventually opens up to his dad about his situation and the two end up bonding over old times.

Additionally, Jean is trying to make new friends in her apartment building but is having a hard time fitting in, especially with her newfound paranoia about the pandemic. However, she eventually bonds with her neighbors over a shared love of gardening, prompting them to start their own garden in the courtyard.

Overall, Quaran-Jean is an interesting episode that touches on some of the struggles people are going through during the pandemic, such as paranoia, anxiety, and breaking up. It's heartwarming to see the characters bond and come together over shared experiences and it's exciting to see where their journeys will take them in the upcoming episodes.
