In season 3 episode 9 of Car Fix, entitled "Skylark Project: Part 2," the guys continue to work on their restoration of a 1965 Buick Skylark. In the previous episode, they tackled a multitude of issues with the classic car's engine, suspension, and brakes. Now, they're focusing more on the aesthetics of the vehicle.
First on the to-do list is to install a new sound system. This Skylark is going to be one sweet ride, so it needs to have the tunes to match. Jared and Lou start by tearing out the old, outdated stereo and speakers, and getting rid of the tangled mess of wires that were behind the dashboard. They then dive into installing a brand new sound system, complete with modern components and high-quality speakers. The end result is a sleek, streamlined setup that will make any audiophile drool.
Next, they turn their attention to the exterior of the Skylark. The guys are determined to make this car a true head-turner, so they choose a bold new paint color that will help it stand out on the road. They start by removing all of the old paint and prepping the body for a fresh coat. Using a spray gun, they apply layer after layer of the bright orange paint, carefully covering every inch of the car's surface. Once the final coat is dry, they step back to admire their handiwork - and it's stunning.
But the guys aren't done yet. They also want to give the Skylark a bit more attitude by installing a custom grille. They start by measuring and cutting a piece of stainless steel mesh to fit the front of the car. Then, using a plasma cutter, they shape the mesh into the exact design they want. Finally, they install the new grille and admire how it gives the Skylark a much more aggressive look.
Of course, no Car Fix episode is complete without a little bit of drama. While working on the car's transmission, Jared and Lou discover a major problem. It seems that the torque converter was damaged during the previous owner's attempt at a restoration, and it's been causing all sorts of issues since then. The guys have to completely remove the transmission and torque converter in order to replace the damaged parts with new ones. It's a big job, but they're up to the challenge.
Throughout the episode, viewers are treated to entertaining banter between the two hosts, as well as plenty of pro tips and tricks for working on cars. Whether you're a seasoned mechanic or just a car enthusiast, you're sure to learn something new from these guys.
All in all, the Skylark Project: Part 2 episode of Car Fix is a great installment in the series. It's fun, informative, and showcases some truly impressive automotive craftsmanship. Whether you're a fan of classic cars or just looking for a fun new show to watch, Car Fix is definitely worth checking out.
