  • February 29, 2000

Sakura and Shaoran embark on a field trip to the Tsukimine Shrine in the latest episode of Card Captor Sakura. The episode opens with the two main characters waking up early in the morning to catch a train to the shrine. They are accompanied by some of their classmates who eagerly anticipate the scenic trip.

Upon arrival, Sakura and Shaoran are pleased to find out that there is a festival taking place wherein they can participate in a myriad of activities and games. There’s a grand parade featuring ornate floats, music, and dancing and the locals are all in traditional attire. It's all very festive, and Shaoran is fascinated by the traditional Japanese culture.

The two soon bump into Yukito, who is enjoying some snacks and appears to be in the company of someone else. Sakura, who is slightly taken aback, is happy to find out that it’s just Touya, Yukito's best friend. They quickly realize they have all been separated from their group during the rush of the crowd and decide to spend time together.

Sakura and Shaoran then try their luck with some of the festival games. They participate in archery and throw beanbags in an attempt to win prizes. Despite their best efforts, they are unsuccessful. Touya later reveals that the grand prize is a traditional Japanese doll, which piques the interest of Sakura.

While walking around the festival grounds, Sakura senses an odd presence in the air. They soon realize that there may be a Clow Card at play at the festival. After examining the situation, Sakura and Shaoran set out to find it. They quickly discover a giant pile of snowflakes that appears to be moving on its own.

Shaoran is quick to notice that it's not snow, but rather, thin sheets of ice that are keeping the snow in place. They soon realize that the Clow Card they are looking for is none other than the Snow Card. They hatch a plan to outwit the card by using a heat source to melt the ice.

With the Snow Card now theirs, they head back to the shrine, where they find out that Touya has won the grand prize doll for his sister. It turns out that the doll was crafted centuries ago by the matriarch of the Tsukimine Shrine, who was also a skilled Clow Card user. As they express their awe and delight, the episode ends on a happy note.

Overall, this episode immerses viewers in Japanese culture by featuring traditional elements like a festival and parade. It also delves into the history of the Tsukimine Shrine and the importance that Clow Cards have in its tradition. The addition of the Snow Card as an antagonist adds a touch of adventure, though it is ultimately resolved in a quick and safe manner. The incorporation of Touya and Yukito enriches the relationships between the characters and offers a sense of warmth to the episode. Fans of Card Captor Sakura are sure to enjoy the latest installment and its satisfying conclusion.
