Ep 5. A Still Point in the Turning World

Dr. Eldon Chance is having a tough time in this episode as he is still reeling from the beating he received in the last episode. He struggles to maintain his composure while dealing with the many patients at his Neuropsychiatry clinic. His personal and professional life seems to be falling apart as he tries to juggle them both.

His daughter Nicole is rebelling against him and his ex-wife only adds to his stress with her constant hounding over money issues. To add to the chaos, he takes on a new patient named Jaclyn Blackstone, who is being abused by her husband Raymond. Chance is immediately drawn to her, and they form a bond as he tries to help her.

With his life in turmoil, Chance's professional life doesn't seem to be going any better. Things get even more complicated when a detective comes to speak to him about one of his patients, D. While Chance had recommended to his colleagues that D be freed, it would seem that there is more to D's story than just what he knew. As if that wasn't enough, Dr. Eldon Chance is having some serious emotional issues as he confronts his own mortality.

As Dr. Chance tries to help Jaclyn, he becomes more involved in the her abusive marriage with Raymond. He starts to do some digging and it becomes increasingly evident that Raymond is not only violent towards his wife, but he is involved in some major crime as well. Chance reveals a different side of his personality as he tries to get to the bottom of this situation.

Though the episode largely centres around Jaclyn and Raymond, Eldon Chance's personal life is still very much a part of it. There are some moments where he is really struggling to hold on to his sanity and it becomes a challenge for him to maintain his professional demeanor.

As the episode progresses, Dr. Chance's tumultuous personal life and work life begin to converge. He definitely has his hands full in trying to help his patients while also dealing with his own unresolved issues.

Overall, A Still Point in the Turning World is a great addition to the Chance series, exploring the complexities of human nature and the many issues that can arise in our daily lives.
