Ep 13. Ghana

Conan O'Brien takes his travel show, 'Conan Without Borders' to West Africa's Ghana in the thirteenth episode of the series. The episode opens up to a beautiful shot of the coastline and then transitions to Conan arriving in the capital city of Accra and immersing himself in the culture.

In the episode, Conan visits a local marketplace where he learns about Ghanaian culture and traditions. He tries his hand at bargaining and trades his belongings with the locals. Later, he visits an herbalist and takes a concoction believed to help with male fertility.

The show takes us through the bustling streets of Accra and we see Conan interact with locals who show him their dance moves and soccer skills. He tries his hand at Azonto dance and is immediately shown up by the locals who are more than happy to share their skills. At a local soccer game, Conan gets a chance to compete with a local team, receives a lesson on Kente cloth, watches a performance by a group of musicians, and even tries jollof - a West African dish believed to originate from Ghana.

Throughout the episode, Conan is constantly shown engaging with the locals, sharing laughter, and indulging in their culture. He also takes in the history of Ghana's African-American population, and how the country served as a haven for slaves who returned after being taken away during the slave trade.

Conan then leaves the capital city to explore Ghana's coastal castles. He visits Elmina Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been preserved to tell the story of the transatlantic slave trade and learn about the horrific conditions the captured slaves went through.

The episode concludes with Conan being a "chief for a day" in a Ghanaian village and being adorned with royal regalia. He shares a special moment with the village elder and is moved by the warm hospitality.

Throughout the episode, Conan Without Borders showcases the rich culture, history, and traditions of Ghana. It offers a unique perspective on Ghana's people, history, and society. It also proves that crossing borders can bring people together and leave an everlasting impact on one's life.
