In the seventh episode of season two of the comedy show Corporate, entitled "Labor Day," viewers are introduced to a number of new characters in the world of Hampton DeVille, the soulless multinational corporation that serves as the show's setting. As always, there are plenty of jokes about the absurdity of corporate culture, but this episode also manages to touch on some deeper themes around class struggle and the exploitation of workers.

At the beginning of the episode, our two main characters, Matt and Jake, are tasked with organizing a Labor Day party for the office. They quickly realize that this is going to be a lot more work than they had anticipated, and they start to feel overwhelmed. Meanwhile, a group of temp workers has been brought in to help with the party planning, and they quickly prove to be a thorn in Matt and Jake's side.

The temp workers are an interesting addition to the show's universe, because they provide a glimpse into the lives of people who are even more exploited and abused by the system than the regular Hampton DeVille employees. They're paid even less than the permanent staff, they have no job security, and they're subject to all sorts of arbitrary rules and punishments. Matt and Jake quickly realize that these workers are being treated even worse than they are, and they start to feel some sympathy for their plight.

As the episode unfolds, we see more and more of the labor struggles that are bubbling beneath the surface at Hampton DeVille. The workers are starting to organize, and they're becoming more and more aware of their collective power. There are rumors of a strike in the works, and tensions are running high. Matt and Jake, initially skeptical of the whole thing, are drawn into the struggle and start to feel like they might actually be able to make a difference.

Overall, "Labor Day" is a standout episode of Corporate, because it manages to be both funny and thought-provoking at the same time. There are some great sight gags and one-liners that will have you laughing out loud, but there's also a real sense of empathy and understanding for the workers who are struggling to get by in this world. Whether you're a longtime fan of the show or a newcomer, this episode is definitely one to check out.
