Ep 5. Josh and I Are Good People!

Rebecca continues to try earnestly to win over Josh's group of friends in season 1 episode 5 of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The episode opens with Rebecca and Greg's friendship going sour as Greg accuses her of using him as a pawn to get closer to Josh. Meanwhile, Josh's ex-girlfriend Valencia tells him about strange phone calls she's been receiving from an unknown caller. Josh agrees to let her stay over, but becomes increasingly mistrustful of Rebecca's intentions.

This mistrust is only compounded further when Rebecca and Greg's attempts to bond with Josh's friends produce mixed results. Valencia starts to become jealous of Rebecca's interactions with her friends and fears that she is trying to steal them away. The two engage in a game of one-upmanship, with each trying to prove their loyalty to Josh.

As the night wears on, it becomes clear that both Rebecca and Valencia's intentions are ultimately centered around their love for Josh. Rebecca's love is unrequited, but she is more willing to re-evaluate her actions and try to be a good person. Valencia, on the other hand, is more fiercely protective of her territory and sees Rebecca as a threat.

The episode ends with both women having made some progress in their relationships with Josh, but still harboring ill feelings towards each other. Rebecca is left feeling lonely and unfulfilled, despite her best efforts to be a good person.
