This historic town served as the capital of the Virginia colony from 1699 to 1780 and is known for its well-preserved colonial-era buildings and streets.

Christine explores the town's history, starting with a visit to the Governor's Palace. Built in the 1700s, the palace served as the home of the Virginia colony's governors and is now a museum showcasing life during colonial times. Christine marvels at the opulent furnishings and impressive architecture of the palace, including a grand ballroom.

Next, Christine goes to the nearby Bruton Parish Church, which was founded in 1674 and is one of the oldest continuously operating churches in the United States. Inside, she learns about the church's role in the community during colonial times and how it played a part in the American Revolution.

For a taste of daily life in colonial Williamsburg, Christine visits the Peyton Randolph House. Christine takes a tour of the hotel, admiring its art and decor, and even tries out one of the guest rooms.

To get a sense of the town's crafts and trades, Christine visits the James Anderson Blacksmith Shop and Public Armoury. Here, she learns about the important role of blacksmiths in colonial society, from creating tools and weapons to repairing metalwork. Christine gets a demonstration of the blacksmith's craft and even gets to forge a small piece of metal herself.

Finally, Christine heads to the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum to see some of the finest examples of colonial-era furniture and decorative arts. She marvels at the craftsmanship of pieces such as chairs, chests, and tables, and learns about the various styles and designs of colonial-era furniture.
