In the sitcom Dad's Army season 5 episode 4, titled "Sergeant, Save My Boy!", the platoon faces an unexpected turn of events when Sergeant Wilson's godson, who happens to be an RAF pilot, crashes his plane in Walmington-on-Sea. The platoon rushes to the scene of the accident where they find the young pilot, who is injured but still alive. Determined to transport him to safety, the platoon carries the injured pilot across the countryside to Captain Mainwaring's car to take him to the hospital.

The situation becomes more complicated when Captain Mainwaring's car breaks down and they need to come up with a plan to get the young pilot to the hospital as soon as possible. When they realize that the only way to get him there quickly is by airplane, the platoon tries to requisition a plane. However, they are initially turned down by the RAF base in the nearby village as the request has not been made through official channels.

Undeterred, the platoon decides to take matters into their own hands and attempt to fly the young pilot out themselves. The team quickly begins to build a makeshift runway in the middle of a field, using vehicles to flatten the grass and create a path. As the platoon prepares to take off, they come across a group of German airmen who have landed nearby and are trying to repair their own aircraft.

The platoon must think quickly in order to distract the German soldiers and prevent them from discovering their plan. In the end, the platoon successfully takes off in their improvised airplane, narrowly escaping the Germans and whisking the wounded young pilot to safety.

As always, the seasoned cast of Dad's Army delivers an uproarious performance, with Captain Mainwaring leading the charge with his usual bumbling pride and determination. Fans of the show will enjoy watching his beloved platoon come together in a time of crisis, showcasing their unique talents and personalities in order to help a young soldier in need. The episode is full of heartwarming moments, plenty of laughs, and the kind of clever, lighthearted humor that has made Dad's Army a classic for decades.
