In Dallas season 2 episode 4, titled "Bypass," the plot centers around the Ewing family's ongoing battle over oil and power. The episode opens with John Ross (played by Josh Henderson) trying to convince Elena (played by Jordana Brewster) to partner with him in his plan to drill on Southfork land. Despite her reservations, Elena ultimately agrees to work with him, but the decision weighs heavily on her conscience.

Meanwhile, Christopher (played by Jesse Metcalfe) is dealing with issues of his own, namely the fallout from his failed marriage to Rebecca/Swindle (played by Julie Gonzalo). He's still processing the lies she told him and is determined to put her behind him once and for all. However, when he receives a package that contains some shocking information, he realizes that Rebecca's deception was even more far-reaching than he originally thought.

At the same time, Bobby (played by Patrick Duffy) is dealing with his own family drama. He discovers that Ann (played by Brenda Strong) is hiding something from him and decides to confront her about it. As he tries to get to the bottom of the issue, he grapples with feelings of betrayal and distrust, wondering if their relationship can survive this latest challenge.

As the episode progresses, tensions between the Ewing family members continue to mount. Sue Ellen (played by Linda Gray) becomes increasingly concerned about John Ross's actions and decides to take matters into her own hands. She meets with a powerful senator to try and find a way to stop John Ross's drilling plan, but quickly realizes that he has connections that go deeper than she ever imagined.

At the same time, Bobby and Ann's issues come to a head. Bobby is hurt and angry that Ann kept something from him, while Ann insists that she had her reasons. The two have a frank conversation about trust and betrayal, and the outcome of their discussion will determine the future of their marriage.

Throughout the episode, the themes of power, betrayal, and family loyalty are explored in depth. The Ewings are locked in a battle for control over Southfork and the oil beneath it, but they're also grappling with deeper issues of trust and honesty. As the tension builds towards the end of the episode, it becomes clear that no one's loyalties are entirely clear and that the future of the Ewing family is more uncertain than ever before.
