Ep 1. Bears

Dead Pixels is an exciting new sitcom that delves into the world of online gaming and how it forms an essential part of the lives of three friends. The first episode, Bears, introduces us to the main characters Alfie, Meg, and Nicky, who sink more time into their online game of choice, Kingdom Scrolls, than they probably should.

The episode begins with Alfie waking up late for work after playing Kingdom Scrolls until the early hours. He quickly dresses and dashes to work, only to be told that he's being let go due to company downsizing. Alfie returns home, where we learn he is an avid fan of Kingdom Scrolls and spends most of his day playing the game. Despite being without work, Alfie sees this as an opportunity to take his gaming to the next level.

Meanwhile, Meg and Nicky, who are a couple, are attempting to raid a dungeon in Kingdom Scrolls but keep getting slaughtered by bears (hence the episode title). They realize that their group needs a healer and decide to recruit Alfie, despite their misgivings about his lack of experience. Initially, Alfie is hesitant to join the group, but Meg eventually persuades him to join them on the game. Together they venture back into the dungeon, which impressively recreates an actual, photorealistic cave with a bears inside.

As they make their way through the dungeon, they come across an item that Alfie has been searching for. They attempt to progress forward, but things start to go wrong when they encounter a group of players who are known for their aggressive tactics. The other team attempts to kill Alfie's group, which forces them to run for their lives.

Midway through the episode, we are introduced to Russel, Alfie's unemployed neighbor who steals internet connections from his neighbors. Despite not having been invited over, Russel crashes Alfie's gaming party. Initially, Alfie is unhappy with this intrusion, but Russel manages to show off his pro-level gaming skills, which pique Alfie's interest. After playing as a team, they discover the boss of the dungeon, a giant spider, that they defeat with relative ease due to their role in the dungeon.

The episode concludes with Alfie admitting to Meg and Nicky that he was fired earlier that day. While the trio feels sorry for him, Alfie tries to focus on his newfound gaming opportunities. He eagerly looks forward to playing more Kingdom Scrolls, and it seems likely that Alfie, Meg, and Nicky will continue to spend more and more time in the virtual world.

Dead Pixels' first episode, Bears, serves as an excellent introduction to the show. It is a lot of fun and embodies the spirit of the gaming community. Through witty banter and hilarious situations, the episode tries to build us a vivid imagination of the gaming community, alongside the humor and satire jokes in the script. Overall, the show offers an exciting and entertaining experience for both gaming enthusiasts and those who aren't.
