Ep 2. Lost & Found

Dirk Gently season 1 episode 2, titled "Lost & Found", begins with Todd waking up in his apartment and realizing that Dirk Gently, the eccentric detective he met the previous day, has been sleeping on his couch. Todd is understandably frustrated, but Dirk quickly convinces him to join him on a new case - finding a missing girl named Lydia Spring.

Lydia was last seen at a college campus, where she was supposed to be attending a political protest. However, when Dirk and Todd arrive, they quickly realize that the protest has been cancelled and there are no signs of Lydia. Dirk's unconventional approach to the case involves following the path of "energy" and he begins to collect seemingly unrelated items - a sneaker, a hairpin, a potato, and a pet turtle.

Meanwhile, we are introduced to two other characters - Farah, a security officer who was hired by Lydia's wealthy father to find her, and a group of men who are searching for Dirk. It is unclear why they are after him, but they are clearly willing to use violence to get what they want.

As Dirk and Todd follow the energy trail, they end up at a pawn shop where they trade in the items they've collected for a computer and some electronic equipment. They use this equipment to track down Lydia's phone, which is located in a local hotel. When they arrive at the hotel, they find Lydia's room, but it is empty except for a strange machine that Dirk deduces is a "soul exchanger".

Meanwhile, the men who are searching for Dirk catch up to him and Todd, and a fight ensues. Just as it seems like all hope is lost, Farah arrives and saves the day. Together, the three of them manage to escape and head back to Dirk's "Holistic Detective Agency".

Back at the agency, Dirk explains his theory that Lydia's soul has been taken from her body and exchanged with someone else's. They decide to perform a ritual to try and switch the souls back. The episode ends with the ritual in progress and Lydia's father watching anxiously from a distance.

"Lost & Found" is an action-packed episode that introduces new characters and begins to unravel the mystery of Lydia's disappearance. Dirk's unconventional methods and quirky personality make for an entertaining watch, and the episode leaves viewers curious to see where the story will go next.
