In this episode of Doctor Who: The Best of The Third Doctor, we see our favorite Time Lord, played by the iconic Jon Pertwee, as he investigates a mysterious outbreak of green slime in a small Welsh mining town called Llanfairfach. Joined by the ever-loyal Brigadier and his UNIT team, the Doctor begins to unravel the sinister plot behind the green death, which seems to be linked to a nearby chemical company.

As the investigation continues, the Doctor discovers that the chemical company is experimenting with a new form of energy that feeds off of organic matter, including human beings. The researchers have created a giant maggot that feeds off of the energy and excretes the green slime that has been plaguing the town. The Doctor is horrified to learn that the maggot is only the first stage in a plan to create even more powerful creatures that can reproduce and spread the green death even further.

As the situation becomes more dire, the Doctor and his allies must race against time to stop the chemical company and their nefarious plans before it's too late. They quickly realize that they are up against some very powerful opponents, including the head of the company, a ruthless businessman named Stevens, and his loyal right-hand man, Elgin. Along the way, the Doctor also meets a young environmental activist named Jo Grant, who becomes an key ally in their fight against the green death.

The tension and drama build throughout the episode as the Doctor and his team confront several dangerous obstacles and hurdles. There are moments of suspense as the UNIT team attempts to infiltrate the chemical company and moments of heartbreak as beloved characters face difficult choices and heartbreaking losses.

The Green Death, Episode 5, is a thrilling and heart-wrenching addition to Doctor Who: The Best of The Third Doctor season 1.
