Chuta Kokonose, a middle school student, has a unique ability to hear the voices of inanimate objects. Despite being mocked by his peers for this strange ability, he continues to utilize it to help him navigate through his daily life. One day, he hears a voice calling out to him from a box, which he opens to discover a strange alien creature inside. The alien introduces itself as Dolugh and explains to Chuta that he has been selected to join the Space Police organization, elDLIVE.
Initially skeptical, Chuta eventually agrees to take the qualifying exam to become an elDLIVE officer. Alongside him is Misuzu Sonokata, a girl with a no-nonsense attitude towards life and a cool, calculating demeanor. Despite her standoffish personality, Misuzu proves to be a valuable partner to Chuta during the exam, helping him navigate through the various challenges thrown their way.
Throughout the exam, Chuta and Misuzu encounter several other applicants, all vying for a chance to join the elite group of space officers. Among them is Lance, a cocky and arrogant student who poses a challenge to Chuta's newfound confidence. However, Chuta is able to rely on his unique power to hear the voices of the objects around him, giving him an edge in certain situations.
With the final exam approaching, the stakes are raised as the students are faced with a life-threatening hurdle. Chuta and Misuzu must work together to overcome the obstacle and prove themselves worthy of joining elDLIVE. But as they do, Chuta can't help but wonder about the true motives behind the organization and the alien creature that brought him into this world.
Overall, the first episode of elDLIVE sets up an intriguing premise with unique and quirky characters. The blend of sci-fi and humor makes for an entertaining watch, and the potential for larger world-building is hinted at towards the end of the episode. Fans of shows like My Hero Academia or Blue Exorcist may find similarities in the concept of young students training to become powerful protectors.
