Emma Fielding Mysteries is a television series that premiered on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in 2017. The show is based on the popular Emma Fielding mystery novels written by Dana Cameron. The series follows the adventures of archaeologist Emma Fielding, played by Courtney Thorne-Smith, as she solves various mysteries and crimes that are intertwined with her work.

The first episode, Site Unseen, introduces viewers to Emma Fielding, a professor at a local university who specializes in archaeology. When a construction worker discovers a skeleton on a construction site, Emma is called in to investigate. The skeleton is soon revealed to be a missing teenager, and Emma teams up with FBI agent Jim Conner (James Tupper) to uncover the truth behind the teenager's disappearance. Throughout the episode, Emma uses her archaeological expertise to solve the mystery and identify the culprit.

As the series progresses, Emma becomes embroiled in more and more mysteries. In past times, Emma’s adventures have taken her to some of America's most interesting archeological sites, where she gets caught up in the intrigue of the people and the artifacts. She also has to navigate relationships with various characters from her personal and professional life, including her mother (played by Adam DiMarco), who disapproves of her involvement in dangerous investigations.

The show is fueled by Courtney Thorne-Smith's strong and nuanced portrayal of Emma Fielding. Thorne-Smith brings both intelligence and vulnerability to the role, making Emma a relatable and engaging protagonist. James Tupper provides solid support as Emma's love interest and occasional partner-in-crime, Jim Conner. Martin Cummins also shines as Emma's colleague, Dr. Alan Archer, who often provides vital assistance in her investigations.

One of the strengths of Emma Fielding Mysteries is its emphasis on archaeology. The show is steeped in the history and science of archaeology, and the mysteries often revolve around ancient artifacts or long-buried secrets. This focus on the real-life work of archaeologists sets the show apart from other mystery series and adds a layer of intellectual depth to the storytelling.

The show also benefits from its connections to the original Emma Fielding novels. Fans of Cameron's books will find much to enjoy in the series, which captures the spirit of the source material while also taking some creative liberties. Newcomers to the series can still easily follow the story, however, and will appreciate the compelling mysteries and dynamic characters.

Another strength of the series is its production values. The show boasts high-quality cinematography, with each episode showcasing impressive outdoor locations and detailed sets. The musical score also adds to the show's atmospheric appeal, creating a sense of tension and drama.

In summary, Emma Fielding Mysteries is a well-crafted and engaging mystery series that will appeal to fans of both archaeology and crime-solving drama. With its intelligent protagonist, intriguing mysteries, and top-notch production values, the show is a standout addition to the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries lineup.
