Eyes on the Prize is a 14-part documentary styled television series about the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. The first episode, Awakenings, documents the movement from 1954 to 1956. Episode two, Fighting Back, depicts civil rights events that take place from 1957 to 1960. Episode three is entitled, Ain't Scared of Your Jails, and takes place from 1960 to 1961. Episode four, No Easy Walk, covers the years of 1961 to 1963. Episode five, Mississippi: Is This America?, goes from 1963-1964. Finishing the first season of the television show is episode six, Bridge to Freedom, which covers the year 1965. The second season of the television series delves heavily into the work of Martin Luther King, Jr., until the time of his death on April 4th, 1968. The first five episodes depict the momentum built up by Dr. King's work in the South that eventually leads to his assassination. These episodes also look into the work of Malcolm X, until his assassination on February 21st, 1965. The final three episodes of the series deals with the 1970s and the 1980s, including the establishment of a federal holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 21, 1983.
