Finding Joy is an Irish comedy-drama series that follows the life of Joy Morris, played by Amy Huberman, who is a single woman in her 30s. After losing her job, Joy starts working as a vlogger for a funeral home, recording funerals and interviewing bereaved families. Season 2 was released in 2020 and centers around Joy's journey of self-discovery.

In episode 6 titled "Moral Support," Joy finds herself in a tricky situation when she has to attend a funeral of someone she doesn't know. She's unsure of how to act and what to say, and her anxiety is amplified by the presence of her ex-boyfriend Aidan, played by Lochlann O'MearĂ¡in.

The episode opens with Joy recording a video for her vlog, where she's talking about how people often ask her what to say or do at a funeral. She reflects on her own experiences and says that there's no right or wrong way to grieve, and that it's important to be there for people who are mourning.

Joy's boss, Stan, played by Paul Reid, tells her that she has to attend a funeral of a man named Mr. O'Reilly. Joy doesn't know who he is, but it turns out that he was a client of the funeral home. Stan wants her to be there to provide moral support for Mrs. O'Reilly, who is alone and doesn't have any family or friends.

Joy is reluctant to go, but Stan reminds her that it's part of her job and that she can't just pick and choose which funerals to attend. Joy agrees, but she's still nervous and unsure of how to behave.

At the funeral, Joy sees Aidan sitting in the back row. She's surprised to see him there, and it's clear that they haven't seen each other in a while. Aidan comes over to say hello, and Joy is visibly uncomfortable. They make small talk, and it's clear that there's still some tension between them.

Joy tries to focus on the funeral, but she's distracted by Aidan's presence. She starts to feel uneasy and wants to leave. She goes outside for some fresh air and bumps into a man named Tom, played by Brian Gleeson, who is also attending the funeral. They strike up a conversation, and Tom tells Joy that he used to work with Mr. O'Reilly. He shares some anecdotes about the man, and his stories help Joy to feel more connected to the funeral and the people there.

Meanwhile, inside the church, Aidan is having his own moment of reflection. He's looking at the Order of Service and realizes that he and Joy were together when Mr. O'Reilly died. He starts to feel guilty and wonders if he should've done more to help him.

The rest of the episode follows Joy as she tries to navigate her feelings towards Aidan and her role at the funeral. She manages to connect with Mrs. O'Reilly and provide her with some comfort. She also reflects on her own mortality and what it means to be truly present for someone who is grieving.

Overall, "Moral Support" is a poignant episode that explores themes of grief, regret, and reconciliation. It's a reminder that funerals can be a difficult and uncomfortable experience, but that they're also an opportunity to honor and celebrate someone's life. The episode is a testament to Huberman's talent as an actress, and her ability to infuse humor and heart into even the most challenging of situations.
