Ep 12. I'd Do Anything

Rafi, a young man, entrusts a couple of his henchmen to start a fire at a car company that didn't want to invest in his business despite his persistent attempts. The fire spreads out of control quickly, and as Firefighters struggle to get the inferno under control, they discover the charred remains of a security guard who had been trapped inside. Meanwhile, the Strategic Response Unit is brought in to diffuse the situation and rescue hostages, but as they soon realize, the perpetrator's motives are difficult to comprehend.

The SRU team is joined by an expert hostage negotiator named Jill Hastings, who has a reputation for being cold and calculated in her approaches. Jill quickly establishes contact with Rafi and attempts to open up a line of communication with him. Though she is initially successful, Rafi's erratic behavior and lack of a clear motive soon complicates matters.

As the SRU team attempts to gather information and make their way into the building, Jill tries to work with Rafi to de-escalate the situation. In the process, the team discovers that Rafi is being harbored by an employee named Orla, who Rafi had promised to help start her own business. Orla, who had developed a crush on Rafi, had been helping him for months until it turned into something more of an obsession.

The team learns that Orla had been helping Rafi in hopes of gaining his affection, but when she realized that Rafi had no romantic interests in her, she became emotionally unstable. Her infatuation and zeal for Rafi had reached a point where she was willing to do anything to make him happy, even if it meant hurting others.

With Orla's help, the SRU team is able to finally get to Rafi and bring the hostage situation to a resolution. However, while the hostage ordeal is over, the underlying issues have yet to be resolved. Orla, now shattered, is unsure of how to move on, and the team can only hope that she gets the help she needs.

Flashpoint's 'I'd Do Anything' is a riveting episode that explores the dangers of loneliness, obsession, and how far someone can be driven to go when consumed by these emotions. The team's efforts to diffuse the crisis are impressive, and the acting throughout the episode is stellar. Overall, 'I'd Do Anything' is an excellent addition to the show's third season and provides compelling storytelling with a message.
