For the People is a legal drama series that premiered in March 2018 on ABC. The show revolves around a group of young lawyers working in the Southern District of New York Federal Court. In the first season's opening episode, called "Pilot," the audience is introduced to the show's main characters.

The episode begins by showing a group of people arriving at the courthouse, all with different motivations and cases. Among them are Sandra Bell (Britt Robertson) and Seth Oliver (Ben Rappaport), two rookie prosecutors who have just been assigned cases at the courthouse. They meet their boss, Jill Carlan (Hope Davis), who gives them a rundown of what to expect in the courtroom.

Jill's boss, Roger Gunn (Ben Shenkman), is shown to be a highly experienced prosecutor, who is feared by the defense attorneys in the courthouse. He has a reputation for being ruthless, and he doesn't tolerate any mistakes from his team. However, as the show progresses, it becomes clear that even he isn't immune to pressure from the people he works for.

In the defense corner, we meet Jay Simmons (Wesam Keesh), who is assigned to defend a man accused of drug trafficking. He is shown to be a brilliant young lawyer, confident and fiercely competitive.

As the episode progresses, we are introduced to the judge in the case, Nicholas Byrne (Vondie Curtis-Hall), who is shown to be fair but tough. The case they are trying involves a woman who is accused of having smuggled drugs into the country inside her luggage. The trial is intense, with both sides presenting their arguments and trying to prove their case.

The episode also introduces us to Kate Littlejohn (Susannah Flood), a young lawyer who is assigned to defend a man accused of assaulting his wife. Kate is shown to be highly ambitious and fiercely competitive, willing to do whatever it takes to win. However, she is also shown to have a strong moral compass, which sometimes conflicts with her career goals.

In addition to the case trials, there are also subplots involving the personal lives of the various characters, which adds depth to the show and makes the characters more relatable. Sandra, for example, is shown to have a complicated relationship with her mother, who is also a lawyer. Seth is shown to be dealing with the aftermath of a breakup. Kate is shown to be having an affair with another lawyer in the courthouse.

Overall, the first episode of For The People sets the stage for an intense and dramatic legal drama. The show's characters are well-defined and interesting, and the cases they are trying are compelling. The show is also well-written and well-paced, with enough twists and turns to keep the audience engaged. If you are a fan of legal dramas or shows like Suits or The Good Wife, then For The People is definitely a show worth checking out.
