Set in the Southern District Court of New York, For the People season 2 is a drama series that revolves around young lawyers who work on both sides of the courtroom, the defense and prosecution. Each episode displays the legal eagles' daily struggles and allows the audience to peek into their personal lives.

In episode 9, titled "Who Are We Now?," viewers are once again brought into the courtroom as the lawyers from both sides clash. After a crossover episode from Scandal in season 7, For the People's second season is getting better with every episode, and this one is no exception.

As the episode begins, we see an intriguing case sprouting, where an idealistic federal prosecutor, Seth Oliver, and his legal assistant Kate Littlejohn, are assigned to prosecute a Somali pirate. The twist comes when they realize that the evidence they have might be insufficient to convict the pirate. Additionally, they are met with a defense team whose strategy is to use America's shameful past as a defense of their client's actions.

As the fight between the two sides continues, viewers are introduced to the real underlying theme of the episode - second chances. Many of the characters are given another chance to do things right and make their lives better.

Jay Simmons, the public defender's chief investigator, is released from prison after serving time for obstructing justice. Jay's return to work sees him having to interact with his colleagues, who are curious about his time in prison. Another character affected by second chances is Bonnie Winterbottom, the ADA, who's set to kick off her year-long sobriety journey. Fans of How to Get Away With Murder, where Bonnie was a series regular before the show ended, would be thrilled to see how things have changed for the character.

However, the most exciting part of the episode is the return of Sandra Bell, who's played by Britt Robertson. Fans of the show were devastated when the first season ended, and the future of Sandra's character was left uncertain. Fortunately, we get to see Sandra make her return in this episode.

The show catches up with Sandra as she's offered a new job opportunity. Sandra's dilemma is whether she should continue in her old job as a federal public defender, where she worked under her mother, or take up the offer of working for a high-status law firm. Sandra's current predicament brings up the central theme of the episode: Who Are We Now?

Overall, "Who Are We Now?" is an episode that stands out in For the People's second season. The story is well written, and the second chance theme is deeply explored. Additionally, the episode makes a strong impact as it reintroduces Sandra Bell. It's an episode that you don't want to miss.
