In Futurama season 2 episode 14, entitled "How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back," the story follows the character Hermes Conrad, the strict and by-the-books bureaucrat of the Planet Express ship, who is feeling burnt out and unfulfilled in his role.

Hermes decides to take a vacation and visits his favorite music venue, where he used to play some cool jazzy tunes on his saxophone. Meanwhile, Bender, the mischievous robot, takes over Hermes' job and ends up losing an important company paperwork, which puts Planet Express' business license in jeopardy.

When Hermes returns from his vacation, he finds out about the mismanagement and chaos that occurred in his absence. Disappointed with the situation, he decides to resign from his position altogether, believing that he has become a burden to the team and that his job as a bureaucrat is not as enjoyable as playing the saxophone.

However, the team soon discovers that without Hermes' meticulous nature, the company starts to fall apart, and the robot workers become inefficient and chaotic. In a desperate attempt to save the business license, they come up with a plan to break into the central bureaucracy building to retrieve the missing paperwork.

Once inside the central bureaucracy, the team is faced with all kinds of rules and regulations designed to slow them down and prevent them from retrieving the necessary paperwork. But, thanks to Hermes' experience and savvy knowledge of the bureaucratic system, he is able to navigate the complex labyrinth of red tape and retrieve the paperwork in record time.

In the end, Hermes realizes that his job might not be as exciting as playing the saxophone, but it's what he's good at, and he plays an essential role in keeping the "bureaucratic machine" running smoothly. He decides to return to his job, and the team is relieved to have him back, recognizing his importance to the functioning of Planet Express.

"How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back" is a hilarious and satirical take on the world of bureaucracy and the importance of individuals playing their role to keep society functioning. The episode highlights the importance of finding fulfillment in one's job, while also recognizing the necessary evils of bureaucracy that underpin many aspects of our modern life. With its witty writing, clever plot twists, and lovable characters, this episode is a must-see for any Futurama fan.
