Ep 1. Rebirth

Rebirth is the first episode of season 7 of the popular animated sitcom, Futurama. The episode begins with the Planet Express team attending the funeral of their colleague, Philip J. Fry, who died in the previous season's finale.

As Fry's body is being cremated, Professor Farnsworth, in his grief, decides to use his experimental device to bring Fry back to life. The device works, but it also causes an explosion that destroys the Planet Express building and leaves all of the crew members except for Fry and Leela in critical condition.

Fry awakens from the explosion unscathed, but he soon realizes that he is not quite the same as he was before his death. He finds that he has new, superhuman abilities that he must learn to control.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Planet Express team is rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are put into medically induced comas. Bender, who was also present at the explosion but was not affected by it, takes it upon himself to care for his unconscious friends.

As Fry tries to come to terms with his new powers, he also struggles with guilt over the devastation that he caused in the explosion. He turns to Leela for support, but she is still in a coma. Fry then seeks out Farnsworth, who is feeling terrible about what he has done, and convinces him to help save the rest of the crew.

Farnsworth discovers that the only way to save his comrades is to put their bodies into a creature known as a "mutant," which can repair damaged tissue. Bender refuses to allow this, believing that it goes against his friends' wishes. Fry then convinces him that it is the only way to save their lives, and they all agree to the procedure.

The episode concludes with the Planet Express team waking up from their comas, healthy and with no memory of what happened. Fry leads them back to the ruins of their former headquarters, where they are greeted by a new, state-of-the-art building that Farnsworth built with the insurance money.

Rebirth is a touching episode that deals with themes of loss and grief, as well as the lengths that friends will go to in order to save each other. Its exploration of the consequences of playing with life and death is thought-provoking and emotionally resonant. Overall, this episode marks a strong start to Futurama's seventh season, promising more exciting adventures to come.
