Leela and the Genestalk is the 22nd and final episode of the seventh season of the animated science fiction TV series Futurama. The episode revolves around Leela, one of the main characters of the show, who discovers her hidden talent as a genetic engineer.
The episode begins with the crew of Planet Express attending a science fair organized by the Professor. Leela is initially reluctant to participate, but after seeing the other exhibits, she decides to create her own project. She comes up with the idea of modifying a beanstalk so that it can grow any type of fruit or vegetable. After working tirelessly on her invention, Leela finally manages to create a genetically modified beanstalk.
However, the situation takes a turn for the worse when the beanstalk suddenly starts growing out of control and takes over Planet Express. The crew tries to stop the beanstalk, but Leela is the only one who has the knowledge to do so. She decides to climb to the top of the beanstalk to find out what is causing it to grow uncontrollably.
Leela eventually reaches the top of the beanstalk and discovers that it is being controlled by a group of alien genetic engineers. She also learns that the alien engineers are using the beanstalk to create new types of fruits and vegetables that they can sell for a profit. Leela is initially angry at the aliens for using her invention for their own gain, but she soon realizes that they are not evil and are just trying to make a living.
In the end, Leela strikes a deal with the alien genetic engineers. They agree to share their genetic research with her, and in return, she helps them create a new type of fruit that can only grow on their planet. The episode ends with Leela returning to Planet Express with a sample of the new fruit, much to the delight of her coworkers.
Leela and the Genestalk is a fun and entertaining episode that highlights the character of Leela, who is usually overshadowed by the more prominent characters like Fry and Bender. The episode also explores the theme of genetic engineering, which is a relevant and important topic in contemporary science. The animation of the episode is top-notch, and the voice acting is excellent, as always. Overall, it is a fitting end to a great season of Futurama.
