Good Dog! is a new show that explores the joys and challenges of dog ownership. In season 1 episode 1, entitled "Barking, Chewing and Doggie Dens," viewers are introduced to three different dog owners, each facing their own unique set of issues.

The first owner we meet is Cindy, who is having trouble with her dog, a small but feisty terrier named Scrappy. Scrappy barks incessantly, especially when visitors come to the house, and Cindy has tried everything to get him to stop. We watch as she consults with a dog trainer, who offers some helpful tips for managing Scrappy's barking. The trainer suggests that Cindy teach Scrappy to "speak" on command, so that she can then teach him to be quiet on command. It's a slow process, but we see some progress by the end of the episode.

Next, we meet Sean, a busy professional who adopted a large, energetic Labrador Retriever named Max. Max is still a puppy and loves to chew on everything in sight, from shoes to furniture. Sean is at his wit's end and is worried he'll have to give Max up if he can't get the chewing under control. Fortunately, a dog behaviorist comes to his rescue and teaches him some techniques for redirecting Max's biting and chewing behavior. Sean learns that providing Max with plenty of chew toys, and supervising him closely, can go a long way in reducing destructive chewing.

Finally, we meet the third owner, Maria, who has a sweet and obedient Golden Retriever named Rusty. Maria loves Rusty dearly, but is struggling to find a good solution for his sleeping arrangements. Rusty prefers to sleep in Maria's bed, which disrupts her sleep and causes tension with her husband. Maria has tried crate training Rusty, but he gets anxious and whines all night. With the help of a veterinarian, Maria explores some other options, including setting up a "doggie den" in a quiet corner of the house. We watch as Maria slowly introduces Rusty to his new bed and rewards him for sleeping there. By the end of the episode, Rusty is happily snoozing in his den, and Maria and her husband are getting a good night's sleep.

Throughout the episode, we see the show's host, a knowledgeable and affable dog trainer named Jane, offer advice and encouragement to each of the owners. Jane's expertise and calming presence helps to reassure the owners that they can overcome their dog-related challenges.

"Barking, Chewing and Doggie Dens" is a heartwarming and informative introduction to Good Dog!, offering a glimpse into the lives of real dog owners and the issues they face. Viewers are sure to learn a lot about canine behavior and training, and will be entertained by the lovable pups featured in the episode.
