Ep 2. The Legend of the Gobblewonker

In Gravity Falls season 1 episode 2, titled "The Legend of the Gobblewonker," the residents of Gravity Falls are excited about the upcoming weekend when a much-awaited event is scheduled to take place. However, Mabel, who is always the optimistic one, convinces Dipper to join the trip, hoping that it would be a step towards creating some happy memories.

Their fishing trip takes them to Lake Gravity Falls, a serene but mysterious lake that has never seen a major sighting of a creature said to have lived there, called "The Gobblewonker." Dipper is skeptical about the legend while Mabel is excited to meet the mysterious creature. To their surprise, they find evidence of The Gobblewonker's existence while they're on the lake and are soon in a boat chase as the creature makes itself known.

As they're being chased, Dipper, Mabel, and Stan run into Soos, a young man who works at Stan's Mystery Shack. Soos offers to help and joins the pursuit of the creature. However, it doesn't take long for the group to realize that The Gobblewonker is nothing but a man-made structure used for advertising a store. While Dipper and Mabel are disappointed that The Gobblewonker isn't real, they're happy to have made new friends in the friendly and willing-to-help Soos.

As the group returns to shore, they discover that the Summerween festival has already begun. Dipper and Mabel, now with Soos' company, participate in the festival and develop a newfound appreciation for the town. They recognize that, even though Gravity Falls may be weird and mysterious, they can have fun there and make lasting memories.

Overall, "The Legend of the Gobblewonker" is a fun and adventurous episode that introduces viewers to the characters, reveals a bit more about the mysterious town, and lays the foundation for the premise of the show. The episode shows that even in a town where the paranormal and supernatural exist, there's always room for friendship and togetherness.
