Ep 10. Missed the Boat

In H2O season 2 episode 10 titled "Missed the Boat", the three mermaid friends – Emma, Cleo, and Rikki – feel saddened as their summer is coming to an end, and they will soon have to return to school. They decide to make the most of their remaining days, and as it coincides with a full moon, they take a decision to spend their evening on Mako Island.

As they are about to leave, they get a surprise visit from Bella, a mermaid they had previously helped to become one of their own. Bella tells them she is still struggling to adjust to her new life underwater and had been spending time researching the ancient mermaid history. She shows them a necklace she had discovered, which she thinks is a clue to a hidden treasure on Mako Island.

The mermaids agree to help Bella and start looking for the treasure. Meanwhile, at the JuiceNet Cafe, Lewis is opening an exhibit for his grandfather's vintage camera collection. As he tries to take a photo, Emma accidentally delivers a water spray that ruins it. Lewis is disappointed, but Emma promises to help him find a new camera to replace it.

At Mako Island, the girls find the location of the treasure, but it is hidden underwater, and they cannot dive deep enough to get to it. Cleo suggests using her powers to create a water tornado, which could bring the treasure to the surface. The plan is successful, and the girls retrieve a chest full of ancient mermaid artifacts.

Back at the JuiceNet Cafe, Emma and Lewis discuss the camera replacement, and Emma suggests that Lewis could use his grandfather's old lens to fix an old camera that is lying around. Lewis is delighted with the solution and starts working on it immediately.

In the meantime, on Mako Island, the girls discover that the mermaid artifacts contain a map to a secret cave hidden beneath the island. The cave is said to contain valuable information about the mermaid's origins. They decide to explore the cave, but as they enter, there's a sudden cave-in, and they get trapped inside.

The girls use their powers to try and find a way out but realize their powers are not strong enough to move the debris. They are about to give up hope when Bella arrives, having followed them to Mako Island. Bella uses her powers to move the debris, and the girls are freed.

They enter the cave, but soon discover that the treasure they were searching for was not materialistic, but something more valuable. The cave contains a hidden pool of water, which is said to have the ability to make mermaids powerful beyond imagination. While they are thrilled to have found the pool, they are cautious as they realize the power it holds.

In the end, Emma, Cleo, Rikki, and Bella decide to leave the pool as it is, and not take advantage of its power. They realize that the true value of their friendship and the trust they share is more powerful than any mermaid artifact.

The episode ends with the JuiceNet Cafe exhibit opening, where Lewis presents a slideshow of his grandfather's vintage photographs. Emma and the girls appreciate the photos and congratulate Lewis on his fine work, and the four friends enjoy the last moments of their summer together, feeling grateful for the memories they have shared.
