A Hanamaru Date/A Hanamaru Helper is the fourth episode of the first season of the Japanese anime series Hanamaru Kindergarten. The episode opens with Anzu and Hiiragi on their way to the park for a date, while Tsuchida accompanies them as a chaperone. Meanwhile, a new transfer student, Koume Inagaki, joins the kindergarten, but she is too shy to interact with anyone.
As Anzu and Hiiragi enjoy their time at the park, Tsuchida struggles to keep up with their energy. However, he soon becomes invested in their relationship and offers to help them with their problems, such as buying a gift for each other and making a love letter. Tsuchida even goes as far as sneaking into Anzu's house to help her complete her letter, but he is caught by her mother in an embarrassing situation.
Back at the kindergarten, the other students attempt to befriend Koume, but she remains hesitant. However, after seeing how happy Anzu and Hiiragi are, Koume decides to come out of her shell and interact with the others. She joins the class in making a painting, but her fear of art supplies causes chaos as she accidentally spills paint all over Tsuchida's face.
The final scene of the episode shows all the characters enjoying some snacks together, with Koume slowly opening up to her classmates. Anzu and Hiiragi also thank Tsuchida for his help, but they are oblivious to his intentions. The episode ends with Tsuchida feeling content, as he has helped both his students and himself by realizing the importance of expressing oneself.
A Hanamaru Date/A Hanamaru Helper is a heartwarming and comedic episode that focuses on the relationships between Tsuchida and his students, as well as Anzu and Hiiragi. The episode also introduces a new character, Koume, who adds a fresh perspective to the kindergarten dynamic.
