As the fourth episode of HANEBADO! opens, we find Nagisa struggling to figure out her destiny in the wake of her latest loss. The episode, titled "I'm Lost Right Now, Too," begins with the young badminton player in a state of confusion and frustration, uncertain of whether she truly loves the sport or if it's simply something she's been doing for so long that she can't imagine life without it. Her doubts are compounded by her frustration with her own performance in the previous episode, where she was defeated in a match that she believes she could have won under different circumstances.
In an effort to clear her head and find some perspective, Nagisa takes a walk through the park, where she encounters several other badminton players who are training together. Among them is Ayano, the talented but troubled player whom Nagisa has been both fascinated and intimidated by since the beginning of the season. As they watch Ayano practice, Nagisa is struck by the other girl's intensity and focus, which seem to come so effortlessly to her.
As the episode progresses, we see Ayano struggling with her own demons. Her mother, who is also her coach, was once a legendary badminton player in her own right, and Ayano is constantly pressured to live up to her mother's expectations. Despite her obvious talent, Ayano often becomes overwhelmed by the weight of her mother's hopes for her future, and she sometimes lashes out at those around her as a result.
These two young women, Nagisa and Ayano, find themselves drawn together by their shared love of badminton and their mutual struggles with the sport. As they begin to get to know each other, they find that they have more in common than they ever could have imagined. Both of them are searching for something deeper than just a love of sport; they are looking for a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives.
Throughout the episode, we see Nagisa and Ayano grappling with their respective dilemmas, searching for answers and hoping to find some sort of resolution. They train together, face off against each other in a friendly game of badminton, and ultimately come to a deeper understanding of themselves and each other.
"I'm Lost Right Now, Too" is a poignant and thoughtful episode of HANEBADO!, one that delves into some of the deeper questions about life and purpose that many of us struggle with at some point in our lives. Through the struggles and triumphs of these two young women, we are reminded that it is never too late to find our way, to discover what we truly love, and to pursue it with all our hearts.
