Ep 101. Sneak Peek
- October 8, 2018
Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law is a hilarious animated show that follows the exploits of a former superhero turned lawyer. The show's first episode, named "Sneak Peek," starts off with a bang as Birdman is tasked with defending his old friend and partner, Birdboy, in court. The premise of the show is that Birdman, along with other classic Hanna-Barbera characters, has left the superhero business to become a lawyer, and he uses his wit and charisma to win cases for his clients.
As the episode begins, Birdman receives a call from his old sidekick, Birdboy, who has been arrested for breaking into a poultry farm and stealing chickens. Despite knowing that his friend has a history of mental instability and a love for feathers, Birdman agrees to take the case and heads to the courthouse to prepare for the trial. Along the way, he encounters several familiar faces from the Hanna-Barbera universe, including his former boss, Mentok the Mindtaker, and his nemesis, Reducto.
The courtroom scenes in "Sneak Peek" are some of the most entertaining parts of the episode. Watching Birdman navigate the legal system while trying to defend Birdboy is hilarious, especially since he seems to have little understanding of how the law actually works. His arguments often devolve into nonsensical ramblings about the differences between ducks and chickens, and he frequently resorts to presenting exhibits that have little relevance to the case.
Despite Birdman's bumbling, he manages to win the case and clear Birdboy of all charges. However, the victory is short-lived when it is revealed that Birdboy has a sinister agenda. He was never interested in stealing chickens - his real goal was to find a rare bird that had been hidden on the farm. With Birdman's help, he manages to find the bird and escapes, leaving Birdman to face the repercussions of his actions.
Overall, "Sneak Peek" is a great introductory episode to Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law. It sets the tone for the rest of the series, which is full of zany characters, ridiculous situations, and clever humor. Fans of classic cartoons will undoubtedly appreciate all of the nods to Hanna-Barbera's vast library, and those who enjoy legal dramas will get a kick out of seeing the legal system lampooned so effectively. If you're looking for a fun and lighthearted show that doesn't take itself too seriously, Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law is definitely worth checking out.
