He also calls upon a surprise witness, a former enemy combatant named Abdul, who testifies to the fact that Birdgirl was not involved in any wrongdoing.

In the end, Harvey is able to successfully defend Birdgirl and clear her name. She is released from Guantanamo and allowed to return home, but not before thanking Harvey for his tireless efforts on her behalf.
