Ep 9. HBO Boxing: Alexander Brand (25-1-0, 19 KO's) vs. Andre Ward (29-0, 15 KO's)
- August 6, 2016
In this episode of HBO Boxing, viewers are treated to a highly anticipated bout between undefeated American boxer Andre Ward and Colombian boxer Alexander Brand. Ward, who boasts an impressive record of 29-0 with 15 KO's, is widely regarded as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world and is favored to win.
However, Brand is no slouch, with a record of 25-1-0 and 19 KO's. This sets the stage for a potentially thrilling fight as both fighters look to prove themselves in the ring.
The atmosphere is electric as the fighters make their way to the ring. Ward, sporting his trademark black and yellow trunks, looks calm and focused, while Brand, in his green and white trunks, looks pumped up and ready to go.
As the first round gets underway, both fighters come out swinging. Ward looks to use his speed and footwork to get inside and land some punches, while Brand looks to use his height and reach advantage to keep Ward at bay.
Despite Ward's early aggression, Brand looks comfortable in the ring and is able to avoid most of his opponent's punches. This frustrates Ward, who begins to throw wild punches in an attempt to land a knockout blow.
In the later rounds, Ward's superior conditioning begins to take its toll on Brand, who starts to slow down. Ward takes advantage of this and starts to land some clean shots, wobbling Brand and nearly knocking him down at one point.
Despite the punishment he's taking, Brand refuses to go down and continues to fight back. In the end, however, Ward's superior skill and conditioning prove to be too much, and he's declared the winner by unanimous decision.
Overall, this was a great fight between two highly skilled boxers. While Ward ultimately came out on top, Brand showed that he's a fighter to be reckoned with and gave Ward a tough challenge throughout the bout. Boxing fans will surely be looking forward to seeing both of these fighters in action again soon.
