In the ninth episode of History Detectives season 10, titled "Mysteries from the Wild West," the team sets out to uncover the truth behind some of the most intriguing artifacts from the American West. Led by renowned historian and CU-Boulder professor Dr. Eduardo Pagán, the team travels to various locations throughout the Western United States to investigate the stories behind each artifact.

The first artifact up for investigation is a set of silver spurs discovered in an old Wild West saloon. The spurs are believed to have belonged to a famous outlaw, but no one knows for sure who that outlaw might have been. The detectives scour historic records and travel to the site of the saloon to try and piece together the spurs' story.

Next up is a mysterious old pitchfork found at the site of a notorious Wild West gunfight. The detectives work to uncover what role the pitchfork may have played in the fight and whether it belonged to one of the gunmen involved.

Then the team investigates a Winchester rifle that was reportedly used by one of the most infamous Wild West outlaws of all time. The detectives visit the historic site where the rifle was allegedly discovered and meticulously examine the gun for any clues that may confirm its provenance.

Finally, the detectives take on the case of a set of glass plate negatives that depict a Native American tribe in Montana during the late 1800s. The images are believed to have been taken by a famous photographer, but they have never been positively identified. The detectives track down the descendants of the photographer and study the images closely to try and verify their origin.

Throughout the episode, the team encounters a diverse cast of characters and learns about the fascinating, often violent, history of the American West. They also demonstrate the rigorous detective work necessary to solve these history mysteries and uncover the truth behind these artifacts.
