Ep 9. Infamous Murders: Streets of Fear

History's Mysteries is an gripping exploration of some of the world's most puzzling unsolved mysteries. In season 7 episode 9, titled Infamous Murders: Streets of Fear, viewers are taken on a journey through some of the most notorious cases of murders that have rocked some of the most famous cities in the world. We hear from detectives who worked the case, as well as from a survivor who recounts the night Ramirez broke into her home and attacked her.

Next, we are transported to the city that never sleeps, where we examine the case of the "Son of Sam" David Berkowitz. Berkowitz's reign of terror in the summer of 1977 saw six people killed and several others injured. We learn about the painstaking investigation that eventually led to Berkowitz's capture, and hear from survivors who reflect on the impact the case had on the city and their own lives.

Finally, we journey to London, where we explore one of the most famous unsolved murders in history - the case of Jack the Ripper. The unidentified killer murdered and mutilated at least five women in the Whitechapel area of London in 1888, and despite extensive investigations at the time and in the decades since, the identity of the killer remains a mystery. Experts offer their opinions on the possible identity of the Ripper, while actors bring the dark and eerie Victorian streets of Whitechapel to life.

Throughout the episode, we are reminded of the enduring fascination we have with true crime and the unexplainable. We hear from psychologists who offer their insights into what motivates killers, and from historians who reflect on how these cases have left their indelible mark on the cities in which they took place. As the episode draws to a close, we are left with a potent reminder of the power of storytelling and the enduring allure of mystery.
