Episode 5 of House Rules season 2 takes us to Western Australia, where the six remaining teams are tasked with transforming a drab and uninspiring 1970s home into a sleek and modern masterpiece.

The teams are split into pairs and given different areas of the house to work on. Some of the areas are more challenging than others, such as the awkwardly shaped living room and the small and cramped kitchen. But the teams are all determined to impress the judges and deliver a wow factor that will propel them to the top.

Team Queensland, made up of brothers Tim and Mat, are assigned to revamp the master bedroom. They decide to go for a beachy vibe, using soft blues and greens to create a calming and relaxing atmosphere. They source local artwork and add plenty of natural textures to achieve a coastal feel. But they encounter some unexpected setbacks along the way, and their finished room leaves them feeling unsure.

Victoria's Pete and Courtney take on the kitchen, which presents a whole host of challenges. The existing layout is awkward and cramped, and the space is poorly lit. But the couple is determined to create a bright, open-plan kitchen that will be the heart of the home. They knock down a wall, install new cabinets and appliances, and add plenty of storage and counter space. The finished kitchen is a vast improvement, but will it be enough to impress the judges?

South Australia's Ryan and Marlee tackle the outdoors, transforming an overgrown and underutilized backyard into a stylish and functional space for entertaining. They install a new deck, add some seating areas, and create a fire pit for colder nights. They also add plenty of greenery and a striking feature wall to give the space some visual interest. But will their vision for the backyard be enough to win over the judges?

New South Wales' Kim and Michelle have the unenviable task of remodeling the ensuite bathroom, which is small and cramped. They opt for a minimalist, industrial feel, with plenty of black and white tiles and raw metal finishes. They also install a new vanity and shower, and add some statement lighting to create a dramatic effect. But with such a tiny room, every detail counts, and the finished product needs to be flawless.

Western Australia's Pete and Courtney, meanwhile, are tasked with the living room, which is oddly shaped and difficult to work with. They decide to create a cozy and welcoming space, with plenty of plush seating and warm lighting. They add some stylish decor pieces, including a statement rug and bold artwork, to create a focal point. But will their unconventional approach pay off when it comes time for the judges to decide?

Finally, Team Tasmania's Andrew and Jono take on the guest bedroom, which is in dire need of a makeover. They decide to create a fun and playful space for visitors, using pops of color and quirky accessories. They install a new bed, add some storage, and create a feature wall with some fun wallpaper. But with so many other amazing rooms in the house, will their guest bedroom get overlooked?

As the teams rush to put the finishing touches on their renovations, tensions run high and mistakes are made. But in the end, only one team will be declared the winner and receive the coveted House Rules prize. Who will impress the judges with their interior design skills and take home the top prize?
