Ep 4. The Sexless Innkeeper

Ted brings Barney to a bed and breakfast, claiming it to be the best in the city. They meet the innkeeper, a sweet old lady named Mrs. Buckminster, and explore the estate. However, the establishment is sexless, and after discovering that the innkeeper is still a virgin, Ted and Barney spend the weekend trying to get her laid.

Meanwhile, Robin is upset that she can't make a relationship last over a month, and turns to Marshall for advice. He tells her that her relationships always fail because she doesn't let her guard down and show vulnerability. Taking his advice, Robin invites her new boyfriend Don to a strip club and opens up to him about her insecurities.

Back at the bed and breakfast, Ted and Barney's attempts to find a man for Mrs. Buckminster fail when they discover that she's not interested in sex. Instead, she explains that her true passion is theater, and she enlists them to help her stage a play she's written. They reluctantly agree, but the play turns out to be a disaster.

Back in the city, Robin's relationship with Don ends when he doesn't call her back. She confides in Lily, who suggests that she stop waiting for the perfect guy and instead focus on having fun. Robin decides to take a break from serious relationships and starts enjoying single life.

The episode ends back at the bed and breakfast, where Ted and Barney tell Mrs. Buckminster that her play was horrible. However, she takes their criticism in stride and thanks them for helping her live out her dream. As they leave, Barney and Ted realize that their attempts to help her get laid weren't necessary, and the weekend was still a success because they helped Mrs. Buckminster find happiness in her own way.
