Iron Man is an animated U.S. TV series that is based upon the Marvel Comics superhero, his team and his exploits. Broadcast on the Disney cable network, the first season featured Iron Man as Tony Stark, an industrialist and billionaire who battles evil as part of a dream team fighting the evil forces of the globe. The story begins as the world dominating Mandarin must be stopped from their evil intentions to steal away Iron Man's armor and thus, his power. The villainous group includes Dreadknight, Blacklash, Blizzard and Grey Gargoyle - who turns fellow villains into stone accidentally. Backlash and Dreadknight were at one time rivals over Hypnotia, competing for her affections. Whirlwind, MODOK, Living Laser and Fin Fang Foom, along with Justin Hammer are also conspiring against Iron Man's team. In order to fight the villains, Iron Man has assembled his own Force Works group that included Century, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Hawkeye and Spider Woman. The first season mostly dealt with simple story lines and only two stories that took place over two episodes. All new and original stories were written by Ron Friedman, occasionally collaborating with comic book creator, Stan Lee. The Origin of Iron Man story was changed and modernized prior to the season's conclusion. A main plot line concerned the Mandarin villain's attempt to steal the newest invention of Stark's newest invention. One smaller sub-plot involved Mandarin spying upon Stark's Force Works. It ended with The Wedding of Iron Man when Stark realized that they were being spied on after contemplating all of the events from prior dealings with Mandarin and his cohorts. Mandarin acquired enough information to figure out Iron Man's true identity. The story revolves around fixing this issue - ending with Iron Man and team devising an in depth strategy causing Mandarin to see both Iron Man and Tony Stark in the exact same place. The aim was to convince him that they were not the same person, which worked for the time being.
