Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- is a Japanese supernatural anime series that follows the story of a college student named Aoi, who has the ability to see spirits. In season 1 episode 2, titled "I've Found a Job at the Inn for Spirits," Aoi decides to find a job in the spirit world to pay off her debts.
Aoi finds herself in a mysterious land known as the Hidden Realm and is forced to make a deal with a demon in order to pay off her debts. The demon reveals that Aoi's grandfather was deeply indebted to him and now that he has passed away, Aoi has inherited the debt. The only way for Aoi to pay off her debt is to work at a magical inn for spirits, where she will be responsible for cooking meals that will appease the appetites of the strange creatures that inhabit the realm.
The inn's manager is a fox spirit named Orio, who agrees to hire Aoi as a chef. However, the job comes with a catch: Aoi must not only satisfy the guests' appetites but also find a way to resolve their issues to prevent them from turning violent and wreaking havoc in the inn.
As Aoi embarks on her first day working at the inn, she meets some of the guests: a male tengu named Ginji, a female spider spirit named Shiro, and a handsome Yaksha named Akatsuki. Each guest has their own distinct personality and quirks, and Aoi must find a way to appease them while figuring out the underlying issues that led them to end up at the inn.
Amidst her cooking and character analysis, Aoi discovers that her grandfather had a close relationship with the inn and its inhabitants. She begins to unravel why her grandfather was so heavily involved in the spirit world and the debt he left behind.
