Kath & Kim is an Australian sitcom that premiered in 2002. The show centers around the lives of the two eponymous characters, Kath Day-Knight (Jane Turner) and her daughter Kimberly Craig née Day (Gina Riley), who live together in a townhouse in suburban Melbourne.

In the first episode of season one, entitled "Sex", we are introduced to Kath and Kim and their personal lives. Kath is a 50-something divorcee who is rediscovering her sexuality after years of being a devoted mother and wife. Kim, on the other hand, is a selfish and vain young woman who is trying to launch her career as a cosmetic sales representative.

The episode opens with Kath getting ready for a date with a man she met through a video dating service. She is very excited to get back into the dating scene and tries to find the perfect outfit for the occasion. Meanwhile, Kim is preparing to attend a hens' night with her friend Sharon (Magda Szubanski), which is being held at a local strip club.

As Kath sets out for her date, we see that she is nervous but also eager to embrace this new chapter in her life. She arrives at the restaurant and meets her date, a man named Gary (Geoff Paine), who is a bit of a sleazebag. Despite his cheesy pickup lines and questionable fashion sense, Kath seems to be enjoying herself and even agrees to accompany him back to his place for a nightcap.

Meanwhile, at the strip club, Kim is less than impressed with the male dancers and makes it clear that she thinks they are all "yuck". She is also preoccupied with her own problems, namely the fact that her husband Brett (Peter Rowsthorn) seems to have lost interest in sex. She confides in Sharon and the two of them come up with a plan to spice up her relationship with Brett.

As the night progresses, Kath and Kim's separate adventures start to converge. Kath ends up having a wild night with Gary, while Kim tries out her new seduction techniques on Brett. Both women are left feeling satisfied but also a bit disillusioned - Kath realizes that Gary is not the kind of man she wants to be with long-term, while Kim realizes that there may be more to a relationship than just sex.

Overall, the first episode of Kath & Kim sets the tone for the rest of the series - it is a lighthearted and often absurd portrayal of two women who are trying to find their place in the world. The show is known for its exaggerated caricatures of suburban life and its use of Australian slang and humor. While the themes of sex and relationships are prevalent throughout the series, the show also tackles issues such as family dynamics, career aspirations, and societal expectations.
