In Knight's & Magic (Original Japanese Version) season 1 episode 2, "Hero & Beast," the story continues with the young wizard Ernesti Echavalier, who is introduced to a new machine known as the "Armed Slave" by the military intelligence officer, Dietrich Knitz. Dietrich explains the diverse features of the armed slave, which is designed for combat and built around crystals. Ernesti becomes fascinated with the machine and is eager to explore its full potential.
Meanwhile, Ernesti and his friends Archid and Adeltrud participate in the upcoming exams for the knight runners. The three of them are determined to excel in the exam and prove their skills as they own knights. They meet Julius, a son of a noble family and a skilled knight runner. Julius challenges Ernesti to a friendly competition, which ends with Ernesti soaking wet in the pool. Despite this, Ernesti is not disheartened and is inspired to build a new machine that he believes will be more efficient than the current one.
Ernesti gets to work on his creation, but he is interrupted by a sudden attack from the demon beasts, which provides an opportunity for the knight runners to prove their mettle. The students team up with the military to fight the demon beasts, and Ernesti manages to put the finishing touches on his creation. With the final touches complete, he dubs the machine "Silhouette Knight" and takes control of it.
Ernesti leads the army to fight against the demon beasts, and his Silhouette Knight proves to be a game-changer. The Silhouette Knight has enhanced speed and strength capabilities in comparison to the Armored Slave, giving Ernesti the upper hand in the battle. He expertly leads his machine, slashing through the enemy and taking out their leaders. Ernesti proves to be a hero and once again cements his reputation as a skilled and outstanding wizard.
As the battle draws to a close, Ernesti reflects on his experience and notes down his progress. Ernesti’s achievements generate a huge sense of pride and his friends celebrate his victory. Ernesti, on the other hand, is solely focused on developing new and better machines, and his companions marvel at his immense knowledge and skills.
