Lady Oscar is a historical anime series that follows the story of a young woman named Oscar François de Jarjayes. Set in the 18th century, the show incorporates themes of gender, love, and political intrigue. In season 1 episode 5, named "With Tears of Dignity," the story picks up where the last episode left off.

In the previous episode, we saw Oscar and her troop head to Versailles to deliver a message to the queen, Marie Antoinette. It was here that Oscar and André, her childhood friend, came across a group of hungry peasants who were stealing from the queen's garden. Oscar and André tried to intervene, but the situation turned violent, and Oscar ends up getting hurt. In episode 5, Oscar is recovering under the care of Dr. Belval. She's been treated for her wounds, but she's still in a lot of pain.

Meanwhile, André is still struggling with his feelings for Oscar. He's in love with her, but he knows that because of her status and position, they can't be together. He's been trying to distance himself from her, but he finds it hard to stay away. One day, he visits Oscar when she's alone in her room. He sees that she's in a lot of pain and decides to help her by giving her a massage. As André is massaging Oscar, he realizes how much he cares for her.

In another part of the palace, we see Marie Antoinette preparing for a ball. She's dressed in a beautiful gown and is surrounded by her ladies-in-waiting. However, her excitement is short-lived when she learns that her brother, Joseph II, is coming to visit. Marie Antoinette is nervous about Joseph's visit because she knows he disapproves of her lifestyle. She decides to seek advice from her closest friend, the Countess von Polignac.

The Countess von Polignac is a notorious figure in the palace. She's known for being close to the queen and having a lot of influence over her. She's also rumored to be Marie Antoinette's lover. When Marie Antoinette talks to the Countess about her concerns, the Countess suggests that she throw a lavish ball in honor of her brother's visit. The ball will distract Joseph from focusing on Marie Antoinette's behavior and instead focus on the grandeur of the palace.

Back in Oscar's room, André is still massaging her when they're interrupted by a knock on the door. It's Rosalie, one of Oscar's maids, asking to speak to André. Rosalie tells André that her brother has been arrested for stealing bread, and she's desperate to save him. André knows that the situation is dangerous, but he agrees to help Rosalie. He tells Oscar that he has to leave and promises to return soon.

As the episode progresses, we see the preparations for the ball in full swing. The palace is decorated with candles, and the guests arrive dressed in their finest attire. Meanwhile, André is working on getting Rosalie's brother out of prison. He manages to bribe the guards and sneak Rosalie's brother out of his cell. However, they're caught, and André is arrested for helping a prisoner escape.

In the final scene of the episode, we see Oscar attending the ball in full military dress. She's there as a representative of the queen, and she looks stunning in her uniform. As she's dancing, she overhears a conversation between two guests who are talking about André's arrest. Oscar realizes that André has put himself in danger by trying to help Rosalie. She leaves the ball and heads to the prison to try and help André.

"With Tears of Dignity" is an emotional episode that delves deeper into the personal relationships of the show's characters. It showcases the complexity of Oscar and André's relationship and highlights the political intrigue of the palace. The plot moves forward quickly, and the show continues to hold its viewers' attention with its engaging storyline.
