The episode begins with the murder of a young couple, Jessie and Danny, who are found brutally killed in their apartment. Their deaths are the latest in a string of murders that have been plaguing the neighborhood, and the police are desperate to catch the killer before he strikes again.
Goren and Eames are called in to investigate, and they quickly realize that the killer is targeting couples who are living together out of wedlock. As they dig deeper into the case, they learn that the killer is a devout Christian who sees himself as a vigilante fighting against what he perceives as the moral decay of society.
The detectives soon come across a suspect named Carl, a man who had been arrested for assaulting a woman just weeks before the murder. Carl's past criminal record puts him on Goren's radar, and the detectives begin to investigate him more closely.
At first, Carl maintains his innocence, insisting that he had nothing to do with the murders. However, as Goren and Eames continue to press him for answers, they begin to unravel a twisted web of deceit and betrayal. Carl's true motives are slowly revealed, and the detectives are forced to confront the terrifying reality of his twisted beliefs.
