A young woman is found dead in a refrigerator and Stabler and Benson are called in to investigate. The woman's brother claims that she was raped and killed by her psychiatrist and a physical exam reveals that she was sexually assaulted. As the detectives begin to look into the psychiatrist's past, they uncover more victims and evidence that he has been tampering with drug test results. The psychiatrist maintains his innocence, but the evidence mounts against him and his alibi begins to unravel. Meanwhile, Benson struggles with her own past trauma and emotions are heightened as the case becomes increasingly personal for all involved. As the trial unfolds, the question becomes whether or not the psychiatrist's remorse is genuine or simply a ploy to garner sympathy from the jury. The detectives must navigate a complicated web of lies, manipulation, and regret to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrator to justice.
