An anonymous call leads detectives Benson and Rollins to the scene of an apparent suicide. But upon further investigation, they determine the woman's death may not have been self-inflicted after all. The victim, a young actress and model, had been working with a controversial plastic surgeon known for his extreme procedures and clientele.
As the SVU team delves deeper into the case, they uncover a web of lies and deceit surrounding the surgeon and his practice. His patients, mostly wealthy and insecure individuals, would do anything to achieve their desired look, even if it meant enduring dangerous and experimental surgeries.
Benson and Rollins must navigate the elusive surgeon's web of deception and manipulation, as well as those of his powerful and influential clientele, while trying to bring the truth to light and obtain justice for the victim. Along the way, they encounter several unexpected twists and turns, and must learn to trust their instincts in the face of overwhelming opposition and intimidation.
Meanwhile, ADA Stone faces his own personal demons as he grapples with the aftermath of a recent tragedy. His emotional turmoil threatens to interfere with his ability to effectively prosecute the case, but with the support of his colleagues and a renewed sense of purpose, he finds the strength to carry on.
In a heart-pounding conclusion, the true nature of the victim's death is revealed, and the perpetrator is brought to justice. But the toll of the case leaves Benson, Rollins, and Stone questioning the moral gravity of their work, and the high cost of pursuing justice in a broken system.
