The Long Arm of the Witness is the sixth episode of the 22nd season of the popular crime drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The episode focuses on the investigation of a sexual assault case that seems to be getting more complicated by the minute.

A young woman walks into the precinct claiming that she has been sexually assaulted and robbed at gunpoint by a man who broke into her apartment while she was sleeping. The woman, who is visually impaired, is not able to give a clear description of the suspect, but she insists that she heard his voice and could identify him if she ever heard it again.

The detectives begin the investigation by searching for any leads and gathering evidence. They check the woman's apartment, look for any clues at the crime scene and talk to the neighbors. They also take the victim to the hospital for a sexual assault kit and a forensic examination.

As the investigation progresses, they find out that the woman's attacker might be the same person responsible for a string of similar crimes in the area. They track down a suspect who matches the woman's description of the voice, but when they bring him in for questioning, he denies any involvement and has an alibi for the night in question.

Frustrated with the lack of progress, the detectives turn to the woman's testimony as their only hope to crack the case. With the help of a sketch artist, they try to recreate a likeness of the suspect based on her vocal description. The process is difficult, but they finally come up with a composite sketch that they believe is accurate.

The detectives then set up a lineup with the suspect and several other individuals who match the description of the suspect. The woman is brought in to identify the man who attacked her, but she is unable to do so. The detectives are at a dead end once again, but they refuse to give up.

Eventually, they receive a breakthrough in the case from an unlikely source. A security camera from a nearby convenience store captures a glimpse of the suspect walking in the area around the time of the crime. The detectives are able to enhance the footage and identify the suspect.

With this new evidence, they are finally able to arrest the man responsible for the sexual assaults. However, there is a twist in the case. The suspect turns out to be someone who was close to the victim and had access to her apartment. The detectives are left wondering what drove him to attack her, and they continue their investigation to find the missing pieces of the puzzle.

The Long Arm of the Witness is a gripping episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit that highlights the importance of perseverance in solving cases, especially when it comes to sexual assault cases. The episode showcases the complexity of these cases and the impact they have on the victims and their families. It also highlights the use of technology and forensic evidence in solving crimes and bringing justice to victims.
