Ep 2. The Bottom Line

Life Below Zero: The Bottom Line is the second episode of the sixth season of the American reality television series Life Below Zero. The third family we meet is Erik and Martha Salitan. Erik and Martha live in Wiseman, 68 miles north of the Arctic Circle. They have a lodge that they rent out to people who want to experience life in the Alaskan wilderness. They also take part in trapping and hunting to make a living. In the episode, we see them prepare for the upcoming tourist season, which involves fixing up the lodge and preparing traps and hunting equipment. We also see how they balance their work with their relationship and how they adjust to living together in such close quarters.

The last family we meet is Andy and Kate Bassich. They live in the Yukon River Valley, in a remote location accessible only by snowmobile or boat. Andy and Kate are true Alaskans who have spent their lives learning how to survive in the wilderness. Andy is a jack-of-all-trades, able to build anything from a cabin to a dog sled. Kate handles the domestic side of things, cooking and cleaning. In the episode, we see Kate trying to gather enough firewood for the winter while also dealing with a broken snow machine. We also see how Andy's dog sledding business is affected by the changing climate.
