Life Below Zero season 6 episode 1, titled "The Resurrection," takes viewers back to the rugged Alaskan wilderness where we follow six hearty individuals as they tackle the challenges of living off the land. This season opener sees each of the featured individuals working to survive the harsh realities of the Alaskan winter.

We start with Glenn Villeneuve who has been living in Alaska for over a decade. Glenn is a seasoned bushman and has learned to live with very minimal supplies. He is currently about 100 miles from the nearest town and must make a 300 mile trek to get food and supplies. As we follow him, we get introduced to his sled dog team that he will rely on for the journey. Glenn has to take extreme caution during his journey as he is alone and gets to face the dangerous wildlife population of Alaska.

Next, we meet Sue Aikens, owner and operator of the Kavik River Camp. Sue is a force to reckon with, and she lives her life on her own terms. In this episode, she is preparing for the arrival of her first guests in a long time, and there's a lot to be done. Upkeep on the cabins is crucial, and she has to do it all while protecting the camp from any outside dangers.

Jessie Holmes is a trapper who's in the middle of a harsh winter. For months, he has been living off his trapping prowess and has no option but to rely on it for survival. Jessie's work requires him to brave harsh winter conditions for days, and he always has to keep his wits about him to keep from freezing or falling through the ice.

We then spend time with Andy and Kate Bassich, who reside near the Yukon River in Alaska. This couple is a perfect match as they share the same love for living off the land and depend on each other to survive in the harsh Alaskan environment. In this episode, they're storing food and firewood, preparing for the cold months ahead.

Lastly, we meet Erik Salitan, who is based in Wiseman, a remote town 250 miles away from the Arctic Circle. Here, Erik has set up a guide service, and his duties include taking clients on hunting and exploring expeditions. However, his life isn't all work and no play, and we follow him as he makes time for his trusted dog pack and general upkeep of his home and property.

Throughout the episode, viewers are shown that life in Alaska can be both extraordinary and extremely challenging. This show takes viewers to some of the most remote and unforgiving parts of North America, and it surely doesn't disappoint. The showrunners have captured the real essence of life in the cold wilderness and have left no stone unturned when it comes to showing nature at its rawest.

Overall, "The Resurrection" episode gives thoughtful insights into the six subjects' individual struggles and experiences as they must survive the harsh Alaskan winters. From Glenn's journey to get supplies by dog sled, to Sue's tireless work at the Kavik River Camp, viewers are given an insight into just how hard life can be in rural Alaska. It is a real testament to the human spirit and ingenuity, and viewers should be fascinated by these tales of survival and triumph in one of the harshest environments in the world.
