Life Below Zero is a critically acclaimed reality TV show that takes a look at the lives of individuals living in the depths of the Alaskan wilderness. Each episode showcases survival techniques and the struggles that the characters face in living in such harsh conditions. Season 5 episode 12, titled "Aftermath", is no exception.

In this episode, we follow the lives of several Alaskans as they deal with the aftermath of an extreme storm that hit their area. We see the effects of the storm on the characters' daily routines and how they adapt to overcome the challenges.

The episode opens with the aftermath of the storm as we see heavy snow on the ground and trees fallen everywhere. Glenn Villeneuve, who lives in Chandalar, a remote area of Alaska, wakes up to assess the damage caused by the storm. He looks through his residence and discovers that the snow has caused damage to his greenhouse. With the greenhouse being a source of food, he needs to fix it ASAP. Glenn wastes no time in rounding up help from friends, and together they begin to repair the damage done by the storm.

The episode shifts to Sue Aikens, who lives in Kavik, which is miles away from civilization. Sue discovers that her airstrip, the only way for her to move in and out of her residence, is covered in seven feet of snow. With weather conditions making it unsafe for planes to land and take off, she relies on her own snowmobile to clear the airstrip. Sue spends days working tirelessly to clear the airstrip, and the audience can see the extent of the storm's damage.

Meanwhile, Erik Salitan, who lives in Wiseman, has trouble accessing the main sled trail, which is loaded with snow and debris. The main sled trail is necessary for commercial deliveries to Erik's residence. Dealing with a shorter delivery window, he quickly teams up with his employees to clear the trail manually. The audience can see their work ethic as they push through to meet the delivery deadline.

Jessie Holmes, another resident of Wiseman, also has problems as the storm destroyed the canvas on his tent. As a result, he needs to find another shelter to stay in. Jesse and his dog pack up and head down to the river as there is a cabin there he can stay in. He starts packing food and winter gear for the journey when he runs into a problem with his dog, who is unaware of the severity of the situation. In the cabin, Jessie takes stock of what he has as he prepares for the winter months ahead. The episode highlights the importance of preparation for surviving the harsh winters.

As the episode moves forward, we see how each character rebuilds their lives after the after-effects of the storm. From fixing greenhouses to clearing airstrips to finding new shelter, it's all about survival. The episode's beauty lies in watching these people work together to overcome the adversity that has come upon them.

In conclusion, Life Below Zero Season 5 Episode 12, 'Aftermath,' is an excellent episode of the show that highlights the struggles faced by people living in Alaskan wilderness. Their ability to adapt to difficult situations and come out victorious is an inspiration. It's a beautiful reminder of how survival and teamwork can make a difference.
