Lingo is an American game show that airs on the GSN channel and is loosely based on the game of Bingo. The show is played by two teams consisting of two players each, and they are each assigned a color. This is usually blue and red or red and yellow. From there each team takes turns picking numbered balls which they use to try and guess a five letter word. Both teams have to try and guess the word and take turns until they are able to correctly guess the word or until they lose control. A team loses control when they fail to guess the word within five tries, giving an invalid word which means that they misspelled it or that it was not in dictionary, and failing to guess the word within five seconds. If one or more letters in a word is left unrevealed, one of those letters is then given to the team before they gain control. When the last letter in the word is left unrevealed, the team does not get to see it, but they are allowed five seconds to discuss it among themselves.
